Save Money. Learn Massage.

Massage is a growing specialty in the professional field, with many licensed massage therapists charging anywhere from $50 to $85 for an hour long massage. Without a referral from a primary care provider, many insurance companies fail to embrace the healing aspects of massage by limiting coverage for them, or refusing to provide coverage. Additionally, many people consider massage as a luxurious spa treatment, rather than an important part of their health regimen, so they lose out on some important health benefits because it may be viewed as cost prohibitive.  But is that really true even if insurance is not willing to cover??

Massage has numerous health benefits. According the Mayo Clinic online, some health benefits to massage are: “…effective treatment for reducing stress, pain, and muscle tension” “…and may be helpful for:

  • Anxiety
  • Digestive disorders
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia related to stress
  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Soft tissue strains or injuries
  • Sports injuries
  • Temporomandibular joint pain”

While massage therapy is gaining some recognition (too slowly in my opinion) in mainstream professional medical and dental fields, but it is still too expensive for many people to add to their financial burdens. Here, at Family Massage Education Center, we offer a solution: an investment that potentially pays dividends your entire life.

Our Couples & Singles four week long series of classes costs $225. That equates to $56.25 per class for two people to receive and give a massage, or (since the point of this article is to show you how learning basic massage skills is economically smart…) roughly $28 per session per person. That’s a lot more affordable than $50 per person! Plus, each class session is two hours, instead of one! If that wasn’t fabulous enough….Family Massage Education Center provides the massage table, sheets, and oils for class! Have you ever priced a massage table?

JoAnn Lewis, our lead instructor, guides and demonstrates basic massage skills and then gives her students a chance to practice on their partner, and vice versa. She makes learning fun and enjoyable, and is encouraging and supportive, which goes a long way in building confidence. In four weeks, students learn the following:

  • 1st week: Feet, Legs, Hands, Arms, and body mechanics in giving massage
  • 2nd week: Body front
  • 3rd week: Body back
  • 4th week: Complete routine

Registration is easy, just go to our website, or call our staff at 541-482-3567. Don’t you want to learn massage and save some money?
